7 Iconic Halloween Costumes with Hats

Blog post-Halloween Costume Ideas using hats

Temperatures are dropping, leaves are changing color, and pumpkin spice lattes are BACK! That’s right, it is finally here. OCTOBER! This can only mean one thing: the countdown for Halloween has begun!

While we can’t skirt around the obvious reasons why Halloween 2020 will be different than most years, we do think it is possible to have some holiday normalcy in a responsible yet safe way. Whether it’s a small family gathering or dressing your kids up and handing over their favorite candy, let us help take the pain out of thinking of a last minute costume.

A little added bonus is that you can pair the hats in most of these costumes with everyday outfits...it’s a win/win. Head to toe, male or female, we have got you covered!

Audrey Hepburn

Nothing says “classic Hollywood” quite like Audrey Hepburn. Our inspiration for this look is ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and can easily be attained by pairing this sun hat with a simple black dress, pearls, long gloves, and a long cigarette holder. Audrey Hepburn Style Hat

Princess Diana

This costume is a nod to the late princess, who just so happens to be a fashion icon year after year. For this look, we chose a black fascinator (think smaller hat style) which can easily be paired with your choice of your favorite black outfit. Don’t forget to save this for the races next year as the fascinator can easily be “recycled” and turn up the heat on your Derby Day attire!

Garth Brooks

We promise you don’t need to have friends in low places to dress like Garth Brooks for Halloween. Think classic black cowboy hat, button up plaid shirt, your favorite pair of blue jeans, and comfy boots you enjoy dancing in most. Garth Brooks Style Hat

Lady Gaga

No one shocks and awes the crowd with her ever-changing style quite like the Queen of Little Monsters herself, Lady Gaga. Our inspiration for this look comes straight from her ‘Joanne’ album cover. Any blazer can be paired with this hat, although we do suggest pink, black, or white. If you don’t have the same long, blonde locks as Gaga, you can easily buy a wig to mimic the look. No Gaga costume is complete without a little bling. We have the best rhinestone hat band to help you stand out from the crowd!

Annie Oakley

You can’t suggest Halloween costumes without a nod to the famous sharpshooter herself, Annie Oakley. Willow Lane Hat Co. has the perfect Stetson hat to effortlessly pull off this look, just make sure you wear it more towards the back of your head as she does. The outfit may be slightly harder to find in your closet so we suggest trying your local thrift stores first and then heading over to Etsy to find classic Western attire.

Steven Spielberg

Steven Spielberg can often be spotted in either a baseball cap or a Panama hat. This look is probably the easiest to achieve as you can pair this with ANY outfit. Whether it’s for you or your significant other, you can’t go wrong with the simplicity and added bonus of having a hat style of your choice!

Pharrell Williams

It’s no surprise that this ‘happy’ singer has made our list! Pharrell Williams can almost always be found sporting a crazy hat of sorts. His most iconic hat is the “Buffalo,” or “Toy Story Woody” hat, which can be hard to duplicate. Willow Lane Hat Co carries a beautiful brown Stampede felt ranger style hat that you can easily pair with any outfit of your choice. It is sure to be your new go-to fall hat! If you’re reading this as a procrastinator (we have all been there) please note that we did our best to list items marked as “Amazon Prime.” Looking to purchase from Willow Lane Hat Co? Most of our inventory is shipped within one business day! If you are down to the wire, we do suggest calling or emailing us to find the best shipping options for Halloween.

While the list could go on and on, we feel like we covered quite a few ideas for you or your family’s next Halloween costume! Think we missed something? Drop us a line and let us know who we should add to the list next year! Hello@shopwillowlane.net

Wishing You a Happy Halloween!

XOXO Amy & Kate
